Mitsubishi Recalls its Roots

In 1917, Mitsubishi released their first automobile, the Mitsubishi Model A. Not only was it the first Mitsubishi car, it was the first Japanese mass produced car. Mitsubishi has certainly come a long way in the past 100 years. Of course, the folks at Mitsubishi aren't one to forget where they came from, and to celebrate their anniversary, they're focusing on their origins with a throwback to the original. 100 years after its creation, Mitsubishi is making another Mitsubishi Model A.

The 2017 Mitsubishi Model A will incorporate many aspects of the original model, but with some slight tweaks for 2017, heavily based on the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV. This means that unlike the original, the new Mitsubishi Model A will have four-wheel drive, two electric motors and a 2.0-liter gas engine, as a melding of the old and the new. Unfortunately for centenarians, the 2017 Mitsubishi Model A will not be released to the public.
